I am a postdoctoral researcher in the lab of Sizun Jiang at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center – Harvard Medical School, where I apply spatial multi-omics approaches to dissect host–disease interactions and investigate molecular mechanisms underlying pathogenic adaptation and tissue-specific responses.
I completed my PhD in Molecular Genetics & Immunology (with Excellence) in 2025 at the Medical University of Vienna , based at Max Perutz Labs on the Vienna BioCenter Campus , in Karl Kuchler's group , studying the molecular genetics and immunology of the fungal pathogen Candida auris — its antifungal drug resistance and host–pathogen interactions. My work showed that C. auris uses a CO₂-driven metabolic strategy, via the enzyme carbonic anhydrase Nce103, to persist on skin and blunt amphotericin B, resolving a question that had been open in the field for 15 years — published in Nature Microbiology and recognized with the 2026 Austrian Microbiology Prize, the ÖGMM Publication Award, and the Life Sciences PhD Award Austria.
Before Vienna, I trained as a pharmacist through a 7-year academic program, including Bachelor's and Master's level education at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City (UMP), where I served as a lecturer in the Department of Microbiology from 2016 to 2021, researching secondary metabolites from Actinobacteria and Myxobacteria. I also studied information technology out of personal interest — skills that turned out to be a useful head start for the computational side of my later research.
Although I primarily work at the bench, I have a strong interest in bioinformatics and integrative omics approaches, and I'm driven by combining computational analysis with experimental validation to uncover biological truths. You can find more about me here: curriculum vitae .
